The fifth international conference led by the Ministry of Health and the Homefront Command, dealing with emergency and disaster scenarios, was held this week. On Wednesday, 1 Shevat, on the last day of the conference, a large-scale exercise simulating mega-event-multi-casualty was conducted.
The forces practiced a scenario in which a terrorist attack was carried out at the Petah Tikva Stadium by a number of terrorists, including shooting, stabbing and detonating explosive devices at the stadium, as part of a terror attack in the Dan region. Dozens of MDA personnel, EMTs and paramedics, participated in the exercise in full coordination with the representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Petach Tikva Municipality, Beilinson Hospital and all the security forces, the National Rescue and Emergency Forces, including the Homefront Command and Police.
At the end of the exercise, participants from all over the world visited the MDA frontal command station, which contains advanced technologies enabling continued function even if the infrastructure collapses, relying on satellite technology.
The conference was attended by lecturers in the field of emergency and many content experts from Israel and around the world in order to promote knowledge sharing and strengthen readiness to deal with potential emergency events. Key topics of the conference focused on management and response to health emergencies, with an emphasis on the various types of terrorism, natural disasters, outbreaks of morbidity, cyber, conventional and unconventional threats.
