A grim and outrageous story: Avraham Cohen, an 18-year-old yeshiva student R”L died after a severe illness. During his illness, while fighting for his life, his father had to fight against another front.
According to the Chadrei Chareidim story, the father, Akiva, received numerous letters from the recruitment office during Avraham’s illness. The letters instructed his sick, bedridden hospitalized son to arrange for his status as a yeshiva student. Despite letters that the father sent to the recruitment office proving that his son is in a difficult situation and cannot respond, the IDF continued.
In one of the conversations, the father told the recruiter: “Come to Hadassah Hospital and finish with this story, enough!” The letters and phone calls lasted until a short time before Avraham was niftar.
The indifference exhibited by IDF officials is outrageous. A recruitment officer did call to apologize after Avraham was niftar, but only after reading the correspondence between the IDF and the father. The father refused to accept the apology from the army.

Sorry but there’s more to this story. Dont believe a word of it.
the Zionists bureaucracy has no heart.
Much ado about nothing! My heart goes out to t he parents and siblings ושינחם אותם ה’ בתוך שאר אבלי ציון וירושלים. But, in all do respect, how could they know of the veracity of his real condition? There are always people who try all sorts if stories to get the recruitment process off their backs. I and there are plenty of negative stories about the IDF recruitment office but this isn’t one of them, as reported here!
Why are you making this into an army verses charadim story. This is an unfortunate story of bureaucratic red tape gone haywire. We have seen similar stories here in the United States. I recall a story of a child being harassed for jury duty.
This article is totally outrageous. Sinas Chinum and Slander at its worst.
it is written to try making the IDF look bad, when in fact they put their lives at risk each day for their fellow jews.
Shameful!!!
I recall a story of a child being harassed by his 2nd grade rebbi for wearing brown shoes. מי כעמך ישראל
“Sinas Chinum and Slander at its worst.’
at its worst? that only tells me you are in love with the army and it’s a god to you
at its worst?
the army does all kinds of cruel stuff as does the government
wake up friend, come back to the real world
MTAB: the army does all kinds of cruel stuff as does the government
wake up friend, come back to the real world

Thre israeli government is SO SO terrible that e. Yisroel has never in history had so many yeshivos and kollelim and 100’s of thousands sitting and learning. Yet MTAB thinks of the government as cruel. I think mtab and joseph ought to share the same room in the looney house. There are plenty of those available in your area.
