The Ministry of Religious Services has committed to refurbish two Jerusalem cemeteries, one in the Sheikh Bhadar area and the other the old Shaare Zedek complex as they are in extremely poor condition, the result of years of neglect.
According to the HaMevaser report, Jerusalem askan R’ Chaim Miller has been writing to pertinent government agencies and an aide to Minister of Religious Affairs Yaakov Margi responded to Miller, explaining at present the beis chaim known as Sheikh Bhadar, located near the Government Complex, is being mapped to demarcate all the kevarim to permit the beginning of refurbishing.
Regarding the beis chaim at the old Shaare Zedek complex, officials are planning to visit in response to mounting requests and the experts will decide what can and must be done.
The Prime Minister’s Office has also responded to Miller, stating the matter is being handled.
