A meeting took place on Sunday between Histadrut National Labor Federation leader Avi Nissankoren and Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat in coordination with the Finance Ministry as well.
It was decided that a committee would be formed including Finance Ministry experts and Jerusalem Municipality representatives, with Nissankoren escorting the process to permit him to represent city workers and their rights, in the hope of analyzing the city’s financial issues. The committee will present its findings between 30 and 40 days.
Mayor Barkat agreed to a request from the Histadrut leader to freeze the current situation and place the 2,150 layoffs on hold pending the committee’s findings. Hence, the workers have agreed to return to work on Monday, 21 Teves.
