Of creation. Would love to get into specific meaning of letters of yud reish daled kuf hei. Those are the letters I know so far. Each letter form represents and shows a concept. It’s really cool! I was learning it tonight.
January 5, 2018 2:27 am at 2:27 am #1443099CSParticipantDaled and hei are the letters that represent kedusha.
Reish and kuf represent klipa.
Daled is opposite reish
Hei is opposite kuf.
If anyone finds this fascinating like me I’ll be happy to elaborate.
January 5, 2018 9:33 am at 9:33 am #1443521LubavitcherParticipantU mean like the א is made up of two י&ו?
The were the bottom yud …?January 5, 2018 4:33 pm at 4:33 pm #1443640lesschumrasParticipantWhat’s interesting is those letters were not used until Ezra introduced them after galus bavel. Prior to that, everything was written in what is termed paleoHebrew script , which looks totally different. Nobody knows why ttche switch was made to Aramaic block lettering. I judt read somewhere that the Samaritans never switched and their sifrei torah are still written in paleoHebrew ( letds noutt argue about their kashrus

Seeing as they were written by non-Jews,
there will certainly be no argument.January 8, 2018 8:16 am at 8:16 am #1444435lesschumrasParticipantI agree they are not kosher sfarim, but they are written inold Hebrew
January 8, 2018 3:06 pm at 3:06 pm #1444722HaLeiViParticipantLessChumras, yes that’s true. They are written in Ksav Ivri. This is actually a testament to the fact that the Torah has to predate Ezra, and actually Sancheriv’s conquest as well. The Samaritans didn’t accept Ezra and yet the differences are minor and few.
January 11, 2018 4:53 pm at 4:53 pm #1447665CSParticipant@lubavitcher yeah I guess so but I wasn’t learning about aleph.
So just to explain two of the above :
Resh and daled both mean poor. They also look the same except the daled has a yud in back. Yud represents a pintele of chochma or Elokus.
So this means that the daled is poor in a G-dly way.
In practical terms, daled represents bittul or humility – the person sea himself as poor and nothing compared to Hashem. Resh is the poverty of klipa that always wants more and more stuff like esav.
We see the contrast between the two letters with the words Hashem Echad vs acheR cvs.
if anyone finds this fascinating I’ll be happy to continue.
January 11, 2018 8:22 pm at 8:22 pm #1448260lesschumrasParticipantHaleivi, my point was that lumdus like Chabadshlucha’s that is based upon the shape of the letters is meaningless. The alphabet shapes we use today are borrowed from Aramaic,. The Torah was originally written in ancient Hebrew, an alphabet that dates back to Sinai and looks nothing like our current Hebrew
January 12, 2018 12:08 am at 12:08 am #14482685ishParticipantYou missed Vav. Vav is hamshacha representing divine light being drawn through seder hishtalshelus.
January 12, 2018 12:11 am at 12:11 am #1448461DovidBTParticipantWhat’s the source for assigning interpretions to Hebrew letters in this manner?
January 12, 2018 7:34 am at 7:34 am #1448524CSParticipant@5ish yes and I’ve also learned gimmel since the first post in the other maamar for this year (5718)
January 12, 2018 7:34 am at 7:34 am #1448523CSParticipantThe Zohar, although the elaboration I was explaining chime from this year’s basi lgani maamar (5738)
