(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

A police car was taking reports following a car accident on Highway 1, the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway in the direction of Tel Aviv on Tuesday, 15 Teves.

The vehicles were parked on the shoulder of the road when a motorist who was traveling illegally on the shoulder slammed into the police vehicle, pushing it into the vehicle in front of it.

  1. There is a widespread disrespect for the law in this country. Israeli drivers are used to no enforcement. Drivers mount the sidewalk, park on the sidewalk, block pedestrians from passing through because they need to park right in front of the store they want and across the street is too far away, stand in bus stops spewing exhaust in the faces of people waiting for their bus, all the while confident they will not get a fine and penalty. So what’s so terrible about driving in the shoulder? There is no public education or awareness of respect for the rights of the public. The guiding principle is “yashar be’einav”. So is there any wonder this happened? Where are our public officials? Missing in action. The police are perceived as thugs and command no respect. This is all their fault. They are underpaid and are not mature enought to manage the public. May G-d (continue to) save us.

  2. Y glazier you are right

where the question can be raised if one needs to say gomel every time they drive
