‘Historic’ Agreement Between Ministries To Address Illegals In Israel

Ministers Erdan and Deri agreed: a historic and intensive move to get infiltrators out of Israel.

Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri agreed to begin a process that would present the infiltrators with only two options: voluntary exit or imprisonment. On Wednesday, a special cabinet meeting will be held in which the ministers’ resolution will be submitted to the government for approval.

As mentioned, about a month ago, Minister of Internal Security Erdan and Interior Minister Deri submitted a temporary order relating to closing the Holot Detention Center. Since then, intensive discussions have been held to create the mechanism that will enable the use of the resources that will be used to encourage the infiltration of infiltrators.

According to the proposal, and in order to close the Holot, the new plan will begin in the coming days; making available to infiltrators two options: voluntary exit or entry to jail.

Towards moving the process along, the Population and Migration Authority will issue messages to the appropriate [infiltrating] public, which will present them with the possibility of voluntary exit.

Minister of Internal Security Gilad Erdan: We have initiated the closure of Holot to convey a clear message to the infiltrators: The State of Israel is determined to restore the routine of their lives to the residents of southern Tel Aviv and to bring back the tens of thousands of illegal infiltrators who have settled throughout the country.

Minister Deri: “The issue of infiltrators staying in Israel is a burning issue, and this is an opportunity to fulfill my promise to the residents of southern Tel Aviv and restore their peace and security. I would like to thank Prime Minister Netanyahu, Minister of Internal Security Erdan and Minister of Finance Kahlon for working together for the important cause.”
