A vacant house on Carlton Road in Monsey was completely destroyed by a fire on Friday night.
Thankfully no one was injured.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but is being investigated by Rockland County Sheriff BCI Arson Investigators as well as Ramapo PD Detectives.
In a press release, the Ramapo PD said “We would like to thank the many brave men and women of the various volunteer fire departments who responded. They endured single-digit temperatures for over 6 hours while being sprayed with hoses to ensure the fire was completely extinguished. Their efforts and sacrifices are greatly appreciated.
Carlton Rd was shut down for over 6 hours while members of Monsey, Hillcrest, Tallman, and Spring Valley Fire Departments battled the blaze. Suffern and Hillburn Fire Departments were on standby. Ramapo Valley Ambulance Corp and Rockland Paramedics were on the scene on standby for any medical needs. Orange and Rockland Utilities and the Ramapo Fire Inspector responded as well.
