As the situation in the Kinneret is critical, with the water level continuing to fall year after year, officials are relocating the ‘300 meter’ marker to signal the area permitted for boating, skiing, and water jets and the like.

Every year, near the start of the swimming season, Kinneret officials, together with the inspection and enforcement ships and special divers, are working on the national lake to relocate the dozens of buoys that symbolize the 300-meter line.

This week, in the middle of December, due to the lack of rainfall, the Kinneret Authority was forced to move the buoys back and place them again, as some of the observers approached the shores of the Kinneret until 50 meters from the shoreline.

Yoni Dotan of the inspection and enforcement unit in the Kinneret Authority, by means of the Authority’s inspection vessel, took the divers from Agidor to the dozens of buoys that were moved 300 meters from the shoreline.

Chaggai Levin, director of the inspection and enforcement unit notes that the 300 meter line from the coastline is a major and significant sign in terms of the rules of sailing and safety. Among other things, this is an area where boats, jet skis and so on can be floated.

The Kinneret Authority noted that it is quite possible that they will have to move the buoys again for the start of the swimming season, according to the amount of rain that has fallen. It should be noted that in rainy winters, when the Kinneret rises significantly, the inspection teams bring the buoys closer to the shore, as part of maintaining a distance of 300 meters from the shore.
