Are dryer sheet companies not telling us something?
I haven’t been using dryer sheets in over five years, and besides my clothes being less fragrant, static really isn’t an issue.
Maybe the necessity of dryer sheets depends on the type of fabric, or heat setting?
Do you use dryer sheets?
Thank you 🙂

December 17, 2017 11:04 pm at 11:04 pm #1429086LightbriteParticipantYes and no.
For the past 3/4th of a year or so, my laundry detergent is a two-fer, with added softener.
Up until then, I hadn’t been using it. Costco just did a switcheroo earlier this year, so that’s why I’m now using a two-fer.
The biggest difference with this detergent is that my laundry smells more fragrant than previously, but not nearly as much as if I’d use dryer sheets.
I miss that wow-pow scent power though… so maybe I’ll just use them for that?

They make towels less stiff, so they are used in towel only loads.
We have 4 dogs and a cat. Sometimes clothing picks up animal hair while hanging in our dressing room. We toss the clothing item in the dryer on a no heat setting with a dryer sheet for 10 minutes and it will remove the animal hair. This works much better than a lint roller

December 18, 2017 12:50 pm at 12:50 pm #1429392yehudayonaParticipantI’m amazed that there are people who think scented detergents aren’t stinky enough. There’s apparently a market for stuff you add to your wash just to make it stinkier.
December 18, 2017 1:46 pm at 1:46 pm #1429503yytzParticipantDryer sheets are completely unnecessary, and are full of toxic chemicals. Many people feel sick just being around them. Some of their components are known neurotoxins.
December 18, 2017 6:41 pm at 6:41 pm #1429631streekgeekParticipantAS CTLawyer said, it’s a fabric softener.
I also use unscented because I don’t like scented clean laundry.
Except for when it comes to baby clothes. Then pile on the Dreft. AhhhhDecember 18, 2017 10:26 pm at 10:26 pm #1429774Ex-CTLawyerParticipant@Streetgeek
we also use laundry detergent that is dye and fragrance free.Mrs. CTL and I recently bought a new Maytag Washer and Gas Dryer to replace our 28 year old Maytag set. The old set still worked but was not energy efficient. We moved it upstairs for use when the whole family is in residence for the summer.
One thing nice about the new machines is that you only use one tablespoon of high efficiency detergent for a full load of wash, not a cap full. The bottle that is marked 120 loads actually does about 250 loads. Drying time has been cut in half.

December 19, 2017 5:18 am at 5:18 am #1429866LightbriteParticipantThanks everyone… I’m going to get some dryer sheets because it sounds like they may help remove dog fur!
Fleece blankets are the trickiest because the fur just clings. Never realized it could be a static issue!
Genius… thank you CTLAWYER!
December 19, 2017 5:18 am at 5:18 am #1429867LightbriteParticipantAvram in MD… lol!!! 😄
My favorite thing is walking by a dryer vent emitting floral plastic nostalgia fumes onto the street!
December 19, 2017 5:18 am at 5:18 am #1429868LightbriteParticipantyytz: True dat!
The toxic issue is the reason why I stopped using anything artificial and scented years ago… then sometime after I got a dog and did more laundry, I just stopped using even those natural oil ones. Then, I realized that my clothes were okay without them, so I stopped using them… Hmmm.
Takes2-2tango: You won A+++ from my dermatologist! Well… if I would have told her what you said, then she would have awarded you such a stellar grade!
THANK YOU for pointing out the side effects ☺☺
Streetgeek: Lol! 😄 I thought baby’s naturally smell wonderful and even their soiled linens smell like roses! Don’t tell me it isn’t so!
