Litzman Arrives to Protest with Bikur Cholim Employees

Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman on Sunday morning arrived at HaNevi’im Street near Bikur Cholim Hospital in Yerushalayim to stand in solidarity with employees who fear they will lose their jobs as the hospital is in danger of being closed down.

“I came today to stand with you so that you may continue working. I give you my support and I am about to enter a meeting to discuss the hospital’s fate” Litzman stated, who holds ministerial authority in his deputy ministerial position. He joined the protest as he made his way to Knesset for the weekly cabinet meeting.

The fiscally ailing hospital almost closed a number of times but was bailed out and now, amid renewed threats to shut down, the chareidi community is especially concerned, pointing out Bikur Cholim is the only hospital in the center of the city and it caters in a very large part to the adjacent frum areas and its services are essential for the community at large, particularly frum residents of the area.
