The government is beginning to make order regarding non-profits, yeshivos and research institutes receiving state funding. The national government has formulated new criteria that are aimed at setting a salary ceiling into place for such institutions receiving government funding. The government feels that if organizations receive state aid, the government will have a say regarding the salaries of its top officials.

In line with the new regulations, the gross salary of a CEO may not exceed 1.4 times the salary of a director of a parallel government agency, seeking to lower the salaries of the top echelon of these organizations.

For example, if a yeshiva receives 100,000 NIS government aid annually, and a senior official receives 55,000 NIS, the aid to that yeshiva will be cut. The government is no longer willing to have institutional aid used to pay what it feels is exorbitant salaries.
