They’ve Been Hurt, They’ve Been Wounded. Olamot Gives Them Hope For A Bright Future

Olamot is a safe haven for religious girls who find themselves on the streets. These girls are often after fleeing domestic violence or abuse, loss or illness of a family member, incarceration of a parent, suffering severe yet undiagnosed learning disabilities or extreme financial stress at home. Lack of a stable environment generates high risk for criminal activity, exploitation, and general victimization. The inherent urgency of reaching these precious neshomos cannot be overstated.

Olamot takes the young women who have been expelled from all other frameworks and places them on the path of community reintegration, independence and productive living.

With the acceptance and structure which Olamot provides the young ladies who came in crisis, can begin to move on to the surmountable task of rebuilding their challenging lives.

Olamot is a natural outgrowth of the concern and activism of Rabbi and Mrs. Chaim Zev and Rivka Finkel. Over twenty years ago, as a young couple, the Finkels were unable to turn a blind eye of the growing phenomenon of religious girls living on the streets. The Finkels “adopted” these girls from all over the world and gave them a home, caring for them till they were able to live independently or reunite with their families. In 2006, after Mrs. Finkel received her MA in psychology they officially opened Olamot.

Over a thousand girls have been saved from a life of dysfunction, poverty and alienation.
