The IDF announced on Sunday, 22 Kislev, that another terror tunnel originating in Gaza and stretching into southern Israel has been discovered and destroyed.

This tunnel, built by Hamas, originates in Khan Yunis and stretches several hundred meters into Israel, opening into Israeli agricultural lands about a kilometer from the closed community in the Eshkol Regional Council. It is the second tunnel discovered within a month.

An IDF spokesman told reporters that the army had detected the tunnel months ago and continued to monitor construction efforts by Hamas. This tunnel it was found in the area that does not have the new tunnel barrier in place yet.

Another tunnel, which was attributed to the Islamic Jihad, was discovered in October and detonated. A number of terrorists were killed in that explosion, and to date, Israel has refused to return the bodies. It is said Israel is holding out until Hamas returns the remains of Lt. Hadar Goldin HY”D and Sgt. Saul Oren HY”D, both killed in Operation Protective Edge during fighting in Rafiach and their bodies were stolen by Hamas during the exchange of gunfire with the IDF force.
