When someone says, “May [name of person who passed away]’s neshama receive an aliyah,” does that mean to say that one prays that the soul of the person who passed away has completed its mission in this world, and will be going to Olam Haba (aka receive an aliyah)?
In other words, my question is: What does it mean to pray for someone’s neshama to have an aliyah?
