Israel: Arrow 3 Missile Test Placed On Hold Due To Safety Concerns


“Safety concerns” were attributed to as the reason for canceling a test firing of the Arrow 3 ballistic missile on Monday, 16 Kislev. According to reports, the target missile, a “sparrow”, failed to meeting safety requirements to carry out the test.

The system is intended to intercept long-range rockets directed at Israel. The test was to recognize the Arrow’s ability to intercept an incoming long-range missile, including the one being developed by Iran that contain warheads that split apart in midair.

Ynet reports the Sparrow did not act as it should after being launched from the Palmachim Base north of Ashdod and when it was realized to behaving inappropriately, the Arrow 3 interception was aborted.
