If the husband is always hot; he needs to sleep with the windows open even in mid-February. Meanwhile, the wife is always cold; she needs the windows shuttered even in mid-August — with the air conditioner off! And both are simply at great physical discomfort if they defer to the their spouse and accept the other way.
What can they do?
Sure, there’s a Halacha that during the winter if anyone wants the windows closed they get their way; while in the summer if anyone wants the windows open they get their way. But in this case doing that for the entire season will cause one spouse or the other to almost be unable to sleep and remain greatly discomforted every day.

December 3, 2017 11:20 pm at 11:20 pm #1417550LightbriteParticipantWindows closed
December 3, 2017 11:20 pm at 11:20 pm #1417551funnyboneParticipantWhy should we mix in to other peoples shalom bayis?! Let the coupke work out their issues on their own!
December 3, 2017 11:21 pm at 11:21 pm #1417553BaltimoreMavenParticipantNot so sure the Halocha is that clean on “windows closed wins.”. I like it cold and someone used that line on me even though there were plenty of places in the room that were not next to the window and we’re plenty warm. I remember looking it up and it wasn’t as clear as you represent.
December 3, 2017 11:44 pm at 11:44 pm #1417559JosephParticipantWindows closed, husband outside, in the winter.
Windows open, wife in the attic, in the summer.
December 4, 2017 12:10 am at 12:10 am #1417563👑RebYidd23ParticipantMicrowavable blanket for her, frozen blanket for him.

December 4, 2017 2:51 pm at 2:51 pm #1417888Yserbius123ParticipantMy parents survived a decades long marriage with open windows all winter long. My mother learned to sleep with multiple blankets and not go into my father’s study from November through April.
December 4, 2017 2:52 pm at 2:52 pm #1417875slominerParticipantI didn’t intend this question as a joke. While they description might have been slightly exaggerated, it was only by a bit. The point is the couple are really of very different tempatures.
I was wondering if there were any ideas that could be helpful. Maybe something as simple as him having a portable fan all year and she a portable heater.
December 4, 2017 2:53 pm at 2:53 pm #1417881apushatayidParticipantseparate bedrooms
December 4, 2017 3:27 pm at 3:27 pm #1417923Little FroggieParticipantI’m hot.
I’m cold.What should I do?
December 4, 2017 3:33 pm at 3:33 pm #1417937MenoParticipantLF, here’s what you do:
Put your blanket in the freezer, then put the freezer in the microwave. Should come out just right.
December 4, 2017 5:25 pm at 5:25 pm #1418323JosephParticipantYserbius123 answered the OP’s question.
Do what Yserbius123’s parents did.
December 4, 2017 11:26 pm at 11:26 pm #1418502slominerParticipantI like Yseribus’ solution.
December 5, 2017 12:10 am at 12:10 am #1418533👑RebYidd23ParticipantMicrowavable and freezable blankets are more effective than regular blankets.
December 6, 2017 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm #1421574☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantThe answer is simple – the warmth in a room can be increased for one
of the occupants by having them put on or go under more layers, but
the cold in a room cannot easily be increased in such a manner.
Thus, logic dictates that the room be kept at the cooler temperature.March 6, 2018 11:08 am at 11:08 am #1482032kitovParticipantThe solution to obtaining warmth is buying an electric heated blanket or electric heated throw.
These reasonbly priced appliances have warmed up my life
And made me want to tell everyone to buy one.
Before I got them i was shivering in bed even under several blankets.
But now I enjoy the gentle warm under this soft heated blanket all winter.
Anytime your sitting someplace and feel cold just wrap yourself in a heated throw and feel the instant warmth.
Energy use is minimal no need to turn up the thermostat and heating bills.March 6, 2018 5:10 pm at 5:10 pm #1483039ad dlo yadaParticipantWindows Open!!! The wife can get nice and warm next to a working oven and stove in the kitchen WHERE SHE BELONGS

If there is anonymity then there is anonymity.
If there is not, YWN might as well say so.March 6, 2018 8:19 pm at 8:19 pm #1483145👑RebYidd23ParticipantMen should not purchase clothes for their wives. If they pick out the wrong size, it’s an insult.

How about looking at one of her clothing and determine the size
March 7, 2018 1:50 am at 1:50 am #1483218Avi KParticipantIncreasing blankets does not work. My ex was the one who wanted the windows opened even in the NY (this was before I made aliya) winters. Even sweaters and an electric blanket did not helped. Finally we went to separate bedrooms and then to separate lives (this was only the tip of the iceberg, pun intended).
March 7, 2018 9:13 pm at 9:13 pm #1484502ToiParticipantLet her put on a sweater and go bake me cookies in a matza oven. She’ll be warm, and I’ll have my cookies.
