According to reports from Syria, Israeli surface-to-surface missiles were fired at an Iranian base southwest of Damascus. Airstrikes by the IAF were also reported. Foreign media reports state the location of the targeted base is Al-Kiswa, about 13 kilometers south of Damascus. The attack took place on the night of 14 Kislev, Friday night to Shabbos morning.
A Sky News Arabic report stated some of the missiles were fired from within Lebanon. Syrian air defense claims to have intercepted at least two of the missiles fired at the base.
Israeli leaders of late have issued several statements committing to preventing a growing Iranian presence in Lebanon or Syria, including the establishment of bases. There has been no official Israeli comment on the attack, however, the message is clear, that Iranian bases will not be tolerated, as senior officials in Israel have stated.
