Disgraced ex-New York police commissioner Bernard Kerik choked up as he testified at the perjury trial of two former friends.
He appeared in a Bronx courtroom Monday much thinner and without his trademark moustache.
He was testifying at the trial of Frank and Peter DiTommaso. Their case dates to a 2006 grand jury investigation of Kerik, who’s serving a four-year term in federal prison.
The brothers allegedly committed perjury for saying their construction company hadn’t paid for renovations to Kerik’s apartment. Kerik later pleaded guilty to receiving $165,000 in free renovations in exchange for helping them obtain a license for their company.
On Monday, a prosecutor asked if Kerik expected his guilty plea would allow him to get on with his life. Kerik teared up and said, “Yes, ma’am.”
