An El Al flight scheduled to take off from Kiev on Sunday night the eve of 29 Tishrei 5773 at 22:30 was delayed for seven hours. The passengers explain they were only informed of the delay after going through security and passport control as they were then compelled to remain in the terminal.
The company providing sandwiches to the stranded passengers apparently did not have food with a hashgacha, leaving approximately 70 chareidim returning from a shabbos in Berdichev without food. They contacted the local Hatzolah in an effort to receive food. It is unclear if this effort was successful.
El Al officials explain they are not equipped to provide food in such cases and the kosher food on hand is designated for use on the plane during the flight. The statement adds the delay was caused to heavy fog in the Kiev Airport.

since when it is the end of the world if someone doesnt eat for 7 hours?
1. Thank you for not having compassion for travelers. Did it ever dawn on you that they didn’t have food with them? Have you ever traveled in the lat 10 years and attempted to take food with you? Obviously you’ve never experienced a good TSA / Airline Security screening before where they make sure you are the gender you claim to be.
rabosai – always fly with sardines, tuna, rice cakes, peanuts, raisins, etc. – and don’t forget plastic forks.
Since most people dint eat right befor they got to the airport so people stayed witout food for more then 7 hrs …..
It’s not the end of the world, but it’s still newsworthy.
Also, it’s not seven hours, it’s seven additional hours, beyond the normal time between meals; they would have arrived at the airport 3 hours before the flight, and the meal on the plane would be served an hour after takeoff. They probably didn’t eat right before leaving for the airport, so add in however long it was since their last meal. Now add a seven-hour unanticipated wait, and what you have is the equivalent of a fast day. Tell me just how comfortable you were on Shiv’a Asar Betamuz; then tell me how much worse it would have been had you not prepared the day before.
