Rebitzen Devorah Pinto was transported to a local hospital on Sunday afternoon 28 Tishrei 5773 after losing consciousness in her Ashdod home. According to reports from the southern city, the rebitzen’s condition is listed as “light and stable” and no diagnosis or explanation is being provided for her sudden collapse and hospitalization.
Her husband, Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto was arrested last week along with her, and the two have been questioned by police. The rabbi, who was also investigated by the FBI, is allegedly tied to a 200,000 NIS bribe to a senior police officer in Israel as well as money laundering in Israel. The two were under house arrest this past shabbos following their release after questioning by police last week. The rabbi was called for questioning again today, 28 Tishrei.
