The JTA is reporting that Rabbi Dov-Ber Baitman, a teacher at the Jewish educational center Shiurey Torah, was assaulted and severely beaten by four men – on on a main street in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnepropetrovsk. Rabbi Baitman had reportedly just finished giving classes when the assault took place.
According to the JTA‘s report, no arrests have yet been made, and his current condition is unknown at this time.
This is not the first hate crime to take place in the city, as YWN reported crimes on August 2006 (HERE), and in April 2006 (HERE). Community leaders claim that the incidents are all related.
