Yizkor services were held around the country for the 2,569 soldiers HY”D killed in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. 7,500 soldiers were injured in the war and 301 soldiers were taken prisoner by the enemy, later returned to Israel.

In an official state ceremony, Defense Minister Ehud Barak called that war a “turning point” for Israel, adding “today, Israel is ready for any eventuality”.
