Police were first on the scene. “We understood from the mother that her small daughter was inside the building. We did not hesitate, but broke down the door and entered the smoke-filled home. We located the girl and got her out of the burning Beit Haninah building on Tuesday afternoon, 25 Cheshvan.
“Together with a neighbor, they found other children and they too were rescued” explained First-Sgt. Oshri Mamon, the first policeman to arrive at the scene of the Jerusalem fire.
The fire department arrived and began efforts to bring the fire under control. Magen David Adom transported the children to a hospital in serious condition.
MDA reports the fire was in a street level apartment. They treated a 5-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl who were extricated from the blaze. They were unconscious and suffered from serious smoke inhalation. CPR and advanced life support measures were implemented. They were transported to Hadassah Mt. Scopus Hospital in critical condition.
