PHOTOS: Rain on Shabbos in Uman – More Expected on Sunday

The rain that hit the Uman area on shabbos came as a surprise to many of the thousands who spend the last shabbos of the year at the tziyun of Rav Nachman ahead of Rosh Hashanah.

The heavy rain began during the afternoon hours on shabbos. Officials report the area’s drainage system failed and there is local flooding as a result. Heavier rains are expected today, erev Rosh Hashanah.

It appears the locals were also taken by surprise and there are no umbrellas available for sale. The organizers of the giant Tikun Clali on erev yomtov are working to find a solution as according to forecasters; it should be raining heavily when the event takes place.
