Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Thursday, 26 Elul 5772 reiterated that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) is “on borrowed time” and his administration is “plagued with corruption”. He added the PA leader simply lacks the ability to manage and he must go if there is to be any hope of progress in the region.
The senior minister called upon Israel to “reassess” its relationship with the PA, questioning the harm and the fears surrounding such a move. He stated that even if Israel was to return to the pre-June 1967 boundaries, including a withdrawal from all areas of Yehuda and Shomron, the terrorism would continue.
Lieberman criticized Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s decision to advance the PA 250 million NIS for he explained Abu Mazen gives monetary allowances to murderers.
When asked to comment on the strained relations today between Israel and the United States, Lieberman explained the matter must be addressed far away from the media eye.
