66% of employees in Israel are unaware of the minimum wage. 36% of employers claim they too are unaware of the minimum wage. 50% of the nation’s workers report they have never received a piece of paper detailing the terms of their employment, their salary and benefits. These alarming figures were released in the recent CFO (Chief Financial Officers) convention hosted by the Ministry of Industry & Trade.
60% of employers admit they do not know what rights their workers have, and 7.6% don’t set aside pension funds as required by law. 15% of the workforce reports the conditions of their employment have been violated in one way or another.
Minister of Industry & Trade Shalom Simchon addressed the opening session of the assembly, stressing the importance of adhering to the labor laws, adding the ministry is significantly stepping up monitoring and enforcement, marking a new era in the Israeli workplace.
