As Breslov chassidim and those who identify with the tziyun of Rav Nachman begin making their way to Uman for Rosh Hashanah, one wonders what happens in a community in which most of the men travel to Uman. Such a community is Yavniel in northern Israel. Of the 400 heads of families aligned with Breslov, only a small number will remain at home.
In past years, the community hired private security during the period so many of the yishuv’s men are out of the country, for about a week toward preventing burglaries.
Beginning this week one can see vehicular patrols in the community and on shabbos and Rosh Hashanah; non-Jews are hired to patrol the area to safeguard the community.

why? the women, who look forward to a week of peace and quiet with out their husbands, they are in the houses so why do they need special watch?
“non-Jews are hired to patrol the area to safeguard the community.’
And who will safeguard the community from these non-Jews who are hired to patrol the area? And what happens to the local shuls and Rabbonim and wives and children in a community in which most of the men travel to Uman?
This Uman meshugaas is getting really bizarre….leave all the women and kids at home for Rosh Hashana while the men go off and spend tens of millions of dollars in one of the most anti-semitic countries in the world. I guess there are no kevorim of tzadikim in EY worthy of their teffilos.
