After lawsuits and legal action failed in preventing the establishment of the next chareidi city, Charish, secular activists are now trying to keep the chareidim out by using the same tactics developers of the city are using.
They are moving to obtain permits to build 400 housing units which they hope to make available to non-frum families seeking affordable housing. The organizers explain they have established a non-profit organization to represent their interests and have already received hundreds of requests from interested families. The applicants insist they are not planning to buy a home and flip it over to chareidim for a profit, but they simply wish to live in affordable housing.
According to a Globe’s report, some of the people behind the secular effort explain “We already lost the court battle and Charish is a reality. Now it remains to be seen who will live there”.

multicultural works well in most neighborhoods in the united states visa vi the charedim and those who are not soo observantt
in israel it seems there is a great intolerance and a tremendous phobia for people who are not exactly like them. let alone the intolerance of phobia of oh my!! what will happen to my kids if they see a guy in peyos wearing a army uniform.

Why can’t both communities live there in peace?
The idea is once there is a secular minority, they can sue over the city being “frum.”
They can never compete with the Chareidi growth rate, b”h.
It seems that the reporting on the city of Charish is incorrect. Charish is a new city planned for the Galilee at discount prices since the govt is (finally) not charging land prices, which hikes up the price considerably. The plans are to build a huge city, and tenders are open for all JEWS of the country, and WHY NOT?
Can’t imagine a rule prohibiting non-Charedei or non-religious from moving into sections of Brooklyn, Queens, Five towns, Baltimore, Skokie of CHicago, North Miami Beach, Lakewood of New Jersey, Manchester of England, etc. HELLO…..
Perhaps start a new trend of folks of “different strokes” interacting, living, talking and walking past each other on main avenues in Israeli cities. We can fortify our ‘shmiros ainayim’, chinuch habanim by explaining & discussing differences that all of us Torah Yiddim do outside of the Holyland.
Resources like Tipat Chalev, Medical Clinics, Shopping Centers, Public transportation, Parks might be intergrated and used by many (including ‘others’). It has been done in areas of Gilo, French Hill, Rananna, Rechovot, Petach Tikvah, & Rechavia. Have only Charedim who are able to live this life BUY IN CHARISH.
