Daughter Sends Mom Chocolate for Rosh Hashanah Only to Learn She Had Been Killed


A fatal vehicular accident occurred on Monday afternoon near Herodian in the eastern Gush Etzion area. Dr. Shira Abramson A”H, a resident of Tekoa was killed in the accident. The driver of the vehicle she was in was injured seriously and transported to the trauma center of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. Five PA (Palestinian Authority) residents in the other vehicle were lightly injured and taken to a hospital in a Red Crescent ambulance.

Dr. Abramson was employed in Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Her husband z”l was niftar of a heart attack about two years ago. He was in his 50s. Her daughter studies in Migdal Ha’emek and was informed of the tragedy by officials in her school who were accompanied by a social worker.

Yisrael Yeret, a gabbai to Migdal Ha’emek Chief Rabbi HaRav Dovid Grossman is quoted by Chadrei Chareidim as explaining that at about 15:30, 30 minutes before the fatal crash, a neighbor of the nifteres arrived in the school to say “hi” to the daughter and wish her a Shana Tova.

The daughter, who is 16, gave her friend a letter to give to her mom, along with seven shekels, instructing her to please by mom a chocolate bar, something sweet for the New Year.

School officials and neighbors are doing their utmost to assist the daughter, now left without parents.

The levaya was held on Monday night in Tekoa and she was interred in the yishuv’s beis hachaim.
