Dems Move Obama Speech From Football Field To Smaller Venue

President Obama’s acceptance speech has been moved from the Bank of America Stadium to the Time Warner Cable Arena, Democrats announced Wednesday.

Democrats blamed “severe weather forecasts” for the move to the smaller, indoor arena from the larger outdoor stadium. The first two days of the convention have been wet, and afternoon showers and thunderstorms are forecast on Thursday for Charlotte.

“We have been monitoring weather forecasts closely and several reports predict thunderstorms in the area; therefore we have decided to move Thursday’s proceedings to Time Warner Cable Arena to ensure the safety and security of our delegates and convention guests,” said Democratic National Convention Committee CEO Steve Kerrigan.

The announcement comes after Obama campaign officials insisted the speech would proceed in the stadium “rain or shine.” The stadium speech was meant to recall Obama’s 2008 address in Denver, when he closed a largely successful convention with a speech to supporters at Invesco Field.

  1. As a small nation, WE fill whole stadiums for events and the Siyum Hashas.

The President of the United States of 300+ million Americans has trouble filling up a stadium.

  2. I guess the severe weather was VERY COLD because they couldn’t give enough seats away to all the black churches & still make it look presentable.

If they would have filled the 73,778 seats, they wouldn’t have moved the program back to the arena which only holds about 20,000. What are they doing with the extra 53 thousand people??

The answer is they don’t exist, which means they are eligible to vote in Chicago!!

  3. They also don’t have enough people to fill the stadium, so it’s a boosha for them. So thank goodness some weatherman said there’s a 10% chance of rain!

  4. Having attended a Daf Yomi Siyum just over a month ago, with an even more questionable forecast, clearly I am going along with the assertion of the Republicans, that this move was necessitated by fear of a less than packed out stadium, so hence they are moving to a smaller venue.
