Vandals targeted a monastery located in Latrun during the predawn hours on Tuesday morning. Anti-Christian graffiti was also painted on the wall.
Ynet quotes Father Louie as explaining one of the residents was awakened by noise at 03:30 and when he took a look outside to see what was going on he saw the flames at the door. He began shouting to wake up the others while grabbing a fire extinguisher and putting out the fire before it could spread.
Father Louie is quoted as questioning why the Christian monastery was targeted; explaining he is aware of the ongoing tensions but they do not involved them.
The graffiti included the names of the Maoz Esther and Migron outposts, as well as “Price Tag” and “Jesus is a monkey”.
Acting Jerusalem Police Chief Mani Yitzchaki has appointed a special team of investigators in the hope of apprehending those responsible for the attack.
