One Dead in Fatal Tel Aviv Crash

Emergency rescue services responded to a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon on Highway 1. The accident occurred close to Kibbutz Galuyot interchange south of Tel Aviv. A pedestrian had been hit by a passing vehicle and lost consciousness.

Volunteers from United Hatzalah emergency medical services and Magen David Adom who responded to the call performed CPR on the unconscious person in an attempt to resuscitate them. Their efforts continued for a lengthy period of time before they were forced to pronounce the person dead at the scene due to the severity of their injuries.

United Hatzalah volunteer EMT and ambucycle driver Meir Yehezkel said: “When I arrived at the location of the accident together with other volunteers from the organization’s ambucycle unit, we performed CPR on the pedestrian who was suffering from a multi-system impact after being hit by a passing vehicle. Unfortunately, paramedics at the scene were forced to pronounce his death following an elongated resuscitative attempt. Traffic was backed up in the area due to the nature of the accident and the EMS teams who responded to the incident.”
