There is a difference between leather and fur. Leather is mostly made from animals killed for food. Animals that are killed for fur the meat is not eaten.
As far as Tzaar Baalei Chaim..Have you seen a fur trap. Basically its a trap with giant teeth that trap the animal until it dies. Schechita is a quick death for the animal
