A Legoland amusement park is set to open north of New York City in 2020.
Merlin Entertainments and local officials announced the timetable Wednesday near where the 170-acre (0.27-square-mile) park will be built in Goshen, Orange County, about 60 miles northwest of New York City and less than three hours from both Boston and Philadelphia.
Officials said $350 million will be invested in the project, which is expected to create 1,300 full-time, part-time and seasonal jobs.
The park will have a 250-room hotel filled with hundreds of Lego models and characters, millions of Lego bricks and themed Lego zones to enjoy.
Visitors will also find more than 50 rides, shows, and attractions, including Legoland Driving School, where kids can learn how to drive a Lego car.
A 4-D movie theater will play a variety of Lego movies, while families can check out areas like “Bricktopia,” where they can see what developers say will be the “the weirdest and wackiest” structures made out of Lego.
The attached video gives you a sneak peek at what the park will look like.
A local planning board voted in favor of the project last week amid opposition from some residents who fear added congestion in this suburban area 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of New York City.
There are Legoland parks in California, Florida, the United Kingdom, Germany, Malaysia, Denmark, Dubai and Japan.
