Northern district police on Thursday afternoon 6 Cheshvan reported receiving a call for a fire in the Kfar Gideon shul, which was empty at the time of the reported fire. Police and firefig hters did however evacuate 180 students from an adjacent school building upon their arrival due to heavy smoke conditions in the area.

There were no injuries reported and the blaze was brought under control. An investigation is underway towards determining the cause of the fire. It is believed that a nearby brush fire spread to the shul. As one can see in the photos, damage to the shul is extensive.

B’chasdei Hashem, the three Sifrei Torah were saved from the blaze.
