Shas Faction In Knesset Distances Itself From Peleg Faction

Clearly, the chareidi tzibur, the majority of which not affiliated with the Peleg faction, is under mounting pressure to distance itself from Peleg protests and to issue condemnatory statements. The tzibur at large is not capable of discerning that the Peleg protesters do not represent the overwhelming majority of the litvish tzibur and leaders are now aware damage control measures are required.

Some members of Degel Hatorah on Wednesday signed a letter distancing themselves from the Peleg faction and the recent protests. This was followed by a letter sent to Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein by the Shas faction in Knesset, echoing the words of Degel, distancing itself from the action and protests by Peleg, which Shas explains is the work of a small number of people; and certainly, not representative of the chareidi tzibur at large.

Shas makes a point of mentioning the protest that Peleg members held outside Knesset, which led to confrontations with the Knesset Guard.

  1. 1) Where does it say they are distancing themselves from Peleg – the party started by HaRav Shmuel Auerbach shlita?
    2) When have any of the protesters indicated they have been directed by Peleg?

  2. what a short term memory deri has…
does he not remember how many thousands protested for HIM when HE was sent to prison.
ps. he was not sent to prison for guarding Torah or Shabbos, HE was sent to prison for other reasons – not very complimentary…
he writes that ‘he’s disgusted’…. who should be disgusted? WE are disgusted with him that he has done NOTHING to save the face of shabbos. he steals and evades tax… but that’s fine with YWN… those are white collar aveiros…
