B’chasdei Hashem Eliyahu Dayan, 20, the son of a prominent Breslov chossid, landed in Eretz Yisrael on Thursday morning during the predawn hours. Eliyahu, the son of Rav Daniel Dayan who heads the Breslov World Center, was taken into custody last year by local police, who reported he was in possession of dangerous substances.
The young Dayan spent time in a local prison, and during the first half year he was not permitted visitors. The father began negotiating with state officials to obtain his son’s release, and the bargaining cost him tens of thousands dollars. After Pesach, a local court sentenced him to five years imprisonment. The family did not despair, and despite the pain and concern, the continued their tefilos and efforts to obtain Eliyahu’s release. In the month following Pesach Eliyahu also received visitors, who also brought kosher food.
Baruch Hashem one of the askanim working towards his release found the weak spot and Eliyahu was put on a plane along with his father and arrived in Eretz Yisrael.
