It appears that Kadima opposition party leader MK Shaul Mofaz feels that his predecessor was correct, and his ticket to political stardom is by bashing the chareidim.
Mofaz and MK Dalia Itzik gathered the required 25 signatures to compel a special Knesset session, which is set for this Wednesday, 11 Elul 5772. The special session will address the ‘sharing the burden’ issue, namely the need to draft avreichim.
Mofaz feels that recent reports of a sharp increase in unemployment and financial concerns demand addressing the draft issue with the maximum of urgency. Mofaz maintains he is not compelled by an agenda against the chareidi tzibur, but by a need to act due to the realities mentioned.
Mofaz blames the faulty policies of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for the growing economic crisis and increasing unemployment. He fears the middle class is shouldering the burden of the government’s decisions and as a result, the middle class will vanish.
He blames the prime minister for raising the value added tax by an additional percent, raising the price of basic items, and supporting subsidized housing for the chareidi sector at the expense of the nation.

So why not give them jobs and don’t require them to join the army first? Wouldn’t that solve all those problems?
I think this headline isn’t perfectly accurate because Mofaz is actually more anti religious then Livni was. And always kept his anti religious views out in the open. Never disagreeing with his predecessor on his anti religious views and army draft for Charedim. The thing is that he used to be frum, left the fold at 17 years old, and so he has a little bit more of an idea about what he’s fighting against. He most probably has quite a bit of a chip on his shoulders. I would say that he actually is following in Livnis footsteps as far as ever managing to win an election. He simply doesn’t ever stand a chance. People are sick seeing him changing his views as often as the wind blows.
