Bnei Brak police plan to use avreichim to watch over mosdos in the city due to the shortage of security guards for the city’s schools.
With public schools opening around this county this week, police are moving ahead with the experimental program in the hope of having sufficient personnel to open all the area schools.
According to an Israel Radio report, police will be placing avreichim at mosdos, armed with a two way radio, which they will be instructed to use to summon police in case of an emergency. There are many critics, insisting they are not trained for this since they have no military service, and while most of the time nothing occurs, in the event of an ‘incident’ an avreich will not know how to respond.
Police acknowledge the move is temporary, until a more acceptable solution can be found. Bnei Brak City Hall adds that while it wishes to place guards at all schools, efforts to date have been unsuccessful. The city is also making a number of security officials available to assist in protecting area schools.

Why don’t they place the avreichim in front of the public schools and have professionals guard the Yeshivas? Because that would put our important citizens at risk.
I think this is wonderful! An avreich learning Torah AND guarding a place of Torah-haven’t the chareidim been claiming for years that learning Torah is what protects the Klal from danger? Their entire argument for not serving in the army is that Torah is the strongest weapon. Now they will have the chance to show the entire world!
