Chacham Ovadia Yosef Shlita was released from the hospital on Friday after a 24-hour observation period, Arutz 7 reports. The Chacham was hospitalized in Yerushalayim hospital on Thursday after an illness he contracted earlier in the week became more severe.
Chacham Yosef gave his usual weekly (Motzei Shabbos) Drasha lecture despite his illness – to thousands of people.

Please someone post his name to Davven for him…He is defiantely one of the greatest Torah Giants of this generation and we all have a Chiyuv to davven for him…
May we always hear good news from the Hacham, and may we have the zechus that he should stay with us in this world till 120 years, Amen.
I got this from the internet so I cannot vouch for its accuracy: Ovadia ben Gorgiya
(There was some discussion a few years ago that ‘Yosef’ was not his family name but rather his middle name.)
Hey #1 – He is certainly defiant!
His full name is Ovadia Yosef ben Gorg(j)iya, Yosef is his middle name not last name, it was switched to his last name, years ago.
May G-d send him a full recovery, Amen
In Iraq there were no family names until very recently. Jews used their father’s name after their own names as middle names and then in some cases added their profession. (Moshe Yosef El-Haddad – Moshe the blacksmith, son of Yosef). The only name I have ever heard for Rav Ovadia shlita is Ovadia ben Gourjiya (good thing you did not post my earlier message – I remembered that his mother’s name is pronounced with a hard G, not as in the state or country of Georgia).
For your information Samech tet, the only mistake I made with my spelling was that I accidently added an e, but even in the real spelling you can read defiant…
Refuah Shleimah…just curious, how old is he?
