As Hungary prepares to mark Independence Day, Hungarian President Janos Ader has bestowed the ‘Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary’ on Chabad Shaliach HaRav Baruch Oberlander, the daily HaMevaser reports. Rabbi Oberlander serves as Gavaad of the Chabad kehila in that country.
The award is that nation’s highest, recognizing Rabbi Oberlander’s significant service to the community and the nation, a true Kiddush Hashem.
Rabbi Oberlander has been living in Hungary with his rebitzen Batsheva since 1989. He opened the first Chabad house in that country.

This is a man who earned his stripes in the trenches like all the Lubavitch sh’luchim. Gd bless them!
