The state prosecutor on Tuesday announced his decision to close the political appointments case against the former prime minister, dating back to Mr. Olmert’s tenure as minister of industry & trade. The case against former Cabinet Minister Oved Yechezkel was also closed.
After Olmert was found not guilty in two of the three major cases against him, there was growing speculation that the acquittal took the wind out of the prosecution’s sails. Assistant State Prosecutor Yehoshua Lemberger announced there are still other processes, such as the Holyland Real Estate case against the former prime minister.
