Today, Councilman David G. Greenfield announced his endorsement of Shlomo Mostofsky in his campaign for Civil Court Judge in Brooklyn’s 5th District.
“I’m proud to endorse Shlomo Mostofsky for Civil Court Judge. Shlomo is a brilliant attorney and a distinguished public servant who has dedicated his life to serving our community,” said Councilman Greenfield. “We need more Judges with the intelligence, vision and compassion that Shlomo Mostofsky has demonstrated throughout his vast career.”
Mostofsky is a widely-respected attorney who runs a prominent family law practice in Brooklyn. Well-known for his pro-bono work on behalf of agunahs, Mostofsky has long been known as a “go-to” expert for our community’s rabbonim. Mostofsky has lectured on family law and domestic violence and is a renowned expert in his field. A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, Mostofsky has served as the senior legal advisor to several New York State Judges.
Mostofsky is the immediate past president of the National Council of Young Israel, a post he held for 11 years. Mostofsky is responsible for launching programs to send care packages to members of the U.S. armed forces serving abroad, fundraising for important counter-terrorism measurers in vulnerable communities, and establishing a scholarship fund for local disadvantaged yeshiva students. Shlomo Mostofsky has long been at the forefront of the fight to bring justice for Jonathan Pollard. Shlomo and his wife, Aviva, were recently honored by Ateret Cohanim with the Ohev Yisroel Award for their work in preserving Jewish life and traditions in Jerusalem. A former member of Brooklyn’s Community School Board 21, Shlomo also serves as the vice president of the Council of Jewish Organizations (COJO) of Flatbush.
“I’m proud to receive Councilman Greenfield’s endorsement, and I’ll work hard every day to bring honor to our courts and our community,” said Mostofsky. “Serving as our community’s judge will be the highest honor for me, and I’m grateful for the support of so many who are making this possible.”
“I know Shlomo Mostofsky has the experience to be a great Judge starting with his first day on the job,” said Councilman Greenfield. “If experience, honesty and integrity mean anything, I urge my neighbors to join me on September 13th and vote for Shlomo Mostofsky for Civil Court Judge.”
The primary election will be held on Thursday, September 13th.
