Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan has filed an official complaint with the Knesset Ethics Committee against MK Ahmed Tibi, who is seen on surveillance cameras visiting Har Habayis following the terrorist attack on Har Habayis in which two members of the Israel Police were gunned down.
Erdan maintains the visit was provocative and further jeopardized a difficult security situation and may have incited a violent response. He cites the actions of the MK were particularly serious due to the fragile situation that existed vis-à-vis Har Habayis at the time.
Tibi explains that police cannot do anything against him due to his parliamentary immunity, calling police efforts to try to stop him from entering Har Habayis “scandalous”, adding Israel Police cannot prevent him from visiting al-Aqsa Mosque.
