IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz confirmed the details of a Channel 2 report released by Roni Daniel concerning the drafting of chareidim into the IDF.
According to the report, one-third of the chareidim will be taken into the IDF, one-third to serve in Israel police and a national service program, and one-third in a technological framework, to serve in the air force and intelligence corps.
As such, the military is setting up three new Nachal Chareidi battalions to accommodate the expect influx of frum soldiers as well as an addition Homefront Command battalion. Special companies will be established towards seeking to permit chareidim to serve near their homes. That means if avreichim live in Tzfas, the Homefront Command will seek to assign them to homefront facilities in that area.
The plan has not yet received the government’s stamp of approval. Once this occurs, the draft notices will begin rolling out to the general public.
The program also stipulates that an avreich who is 21-22 and is unable to serve in the military will receive a deferment and may enter the workplace without fear of being hounded for being illegal. On the other hand, the state will stop paying the yeshiva for this avreich.
The program is being called temporary, but it will serve as the basis for a more permanent arrangement.

The Tzar also had a plan of thirds. Look it up.
Are they planning any special rules that should the Israeli government ever attempt to force a male religious draftee to listen to the sound of a woman singing that this voids the whole program and he is free to leave his sentence without fear of being hounded for being illegal or AWOL?
There was a perfume commercial that said: “Promise her anything but give her Channel.” When it comes to the Torah community the IDF policy is: Promise them everything but then give them Hell.
We have seen all this before. All sorts of promises have been made and as soon as there is the slightest possibility to break them, they are broken. Why should anyone trust the word of people who spit in G-D’s face every day?
The reality is there is no military reason whatsoever for a draft of anyone. There are easily twice as many people who would volunteer that are qualified to serve than positions in the Army for them. It exists only as an instrument of oppression and political control.
Let us abolish the draft and we will no longer have any of these artificial problems.
Has he factored in the impact on overall efficiency of a large number of soldiers who will be in the army against their will, and will consider insubordination to be a mitzvah? The existing Hareidi soldiers have all been enthusiastic volunteeers who consider killing Arabs to be a mitzvah – the new “recruits” will see army service as giving them an opportunity to create a Kiddush Ha-Shem by openly resisting.
If you want to buy a “short” on Israeli bonds, now is the time to do so.
it is time for the frum world to enter into the world of communal responsibility and begin to accept leadership in Israel. Frum soldiers will be a living example to the non religious of how to behave since idealism amongst the secular youth is at an all time low,.
