Alert border police in the Modi’in area apprehended a shipment of eggs from a PA (Palestinian Authority) area being smuggled into Green Line Israel for sale in that area. The eggs were hidden in a large diesel fuel tank mounted on a pickup truck, transported on a hot summer day without any refrigeration.

The shipment of “thousands of eggs” was confiscated and will be destroyed. The persons in the truck were arrested. Israeli health officials continue efforts to apprehend items originating in PA autonomous areas that are smuggled into the Israeli marketplace, often posing serious health hazards. This includes contaminated meat and vegetables irrigated with sewage water containing dangerously high levels of Echoli.

Police add that some of the eggs had forged stamps on the outer shel, which would make detecting their place of origin nearly impossible.
