A family from Brazil wished to do something special to mark the bar mitzvah of a son, and they did just that. The family came to Israel and donated a Sefer Torah to a Yerushalayim shul in addition to 12 motorbikes to join the nationwide Ichud Hatzalah motorbike first response units. The latest donation brings the Ichud Hatzalah nationwide fleet to 180 units, permitting the volunteers to respond to emergencies in record time as the two-wheeled motorized vehicles permit emergency medical technicians and paramedics to zip through traffic jams.
Ichud’s volunteer army today numbers over 1,700 persons nationwide, placing the organization among the leaders in pre-hospital emergency medical response in Israel.
