Hatzolah Wants Apology Despite Woodridge PD Dropping Illegally Issued Tickets

The Woodridge Village Police Department has dismissed the traffic tickets against two Hatzolah EMTs who responded to an emergency call at Village Hall on Wednesday evening with red lights flashing on their vehicles.

Police Chief John Calvello has sent Hatzolah CEO Rabbi David Cohen a letter saying the charges have been dropped and while Cohen said that was a wise decision, he still wants more. Specifically, he wants a written letter of apology to the two volunteers and the agency and a commitment that it will never happen again.

The chief reportedly issued the tickets under the direction of a village trustee who was on the scene when the EMTs arrived.

  1. i totally agree with rabbi cohen. these hatzolah members were rushing to help someone in need. they should be given the key to the town now to make up for what was done to them.

  2. also, keep in mind that peopl with homes upstate that are eyar round should register to vote there. this way the people who cause issues like this one would be voted OUT!

  3. How about they take care of this issue behind closed doors so we ALL don’t have to suffer from Woodridge PD’s bogus tickets. I doubt a public apology will do more then antagonize those that were responsible in the first place.

  4. This sense of entitlement in the jewish community is very dangerous. If they dismissed the tickets that is adequate. however what is indicative of our mentality is that we are entitled and so we think we have an apology coming to us. pathetic

  5. The ticket was issued bfarhesya. Davka to hurt Hatzala. And it slowed down a life threatening emergency medical response by Hatzala.
