The Interpol General Assembly voted to accept Palestine as a member despite objections from Israel and the United States. 76% of the 190-member nations voted to accept Palestine as a member.
While the US and Israel maintained the PA (Palestinian Authority) is not a sovereign nation, Interpol members opened their arms to welcome Palestine.
Israel fears the move will permit Ramallah to turn up its legal battle against Israel, former senior government ministers and IDF officers as it seeks to harass former officials in The International Court of Justice and other forums, including the United Nations, where it maintains observer status.
